Frontline, the Bermuda-based world's largest tanker company has opened its own crewing office in Chennai to tap Indian officers for its tanker fleet.
SeaTeam, a Singapore-based 100 per cent subsidiary of Frontline, has set up its presence in Chennai with Capt G. Ramaswamy as CEO to recruit seafarers from India for the company's global fleet.
SeaTeam will recruit the crew on its roll on a contract basis. On a regular basis, it plans to recruit nearly 400 Indian officers to man nearly 40 ships, according to Mr Alasdair Smith, Managing Director, SeaTeam Management Ptd Ltd., Singapore. The company has already recruited 11 officers, and will add another 12 for Frontline's fleet, he said.
