A Korean-registered cargo vessel with 18 crew onboard ran aground 800 yards west of Canas Point Mariveles, Bataan around 10:56PM last 29 July, Sunday.

Information received by Coast Guard Station (CGS) Bataan from VTMS Corregidor and Local Agent Ramon Oliveros of RCS Company Incorporated, revealed that M/V Ocean Galaxy was transiting the vicinity waters of Mariveles, Bataan from China enroute to Manila when she encountered engine trouble and decided to drop anchor.

However, she was dragged and subsequently ran aground due to strong winds and rough seas prevailing in the area.

CGS Bataan coordinated with Malayan Towage Corporation to tow MV Ocean Galaxy to Manila.

Accordingly, all crew were in good condition and there were no signs of leakage at bilges as per initial inspection conducted by the crew.
